KEYS TO UNDERSTANDING

  • Felix:   Because he had been governor of Judea for many years and because he had a Jewish wife, this man understood the controversy between the Jews and Christians.  However, he was a very wicked and cruel man, according to secular history, and what we see in this chapter indicates the same.
  • Roman Law:   The Roman legal system was the basis on which our own was modeled.  A citizen was considered innocent until proved guilty.  All charges and accusations had to be proved by evidence.
